About the Wisconsin Dells Mill site
I grew up just one mile from this place. I played in the mill while my grandfather had wheat, corn and oats ground for the family daily farm
I fished in the Wisconsin Dells Mill pond for large mouth bass, crappies, sunfish and perch. The opening of the bass season each spring was a big deal for our family, fishing with my mother and father
The mill and pond was a farming and social center for early and mid-20th century farmers
We swam in the pond. We ice fished in the winter, and when the pond froze in fall and early winter, we tried to get in a lot of ice skating before too much snow covered the pond. Once or twice during my youth, the pond stayed snow free much of the winter. It was skating heaven
And once, when I was about 6 or 7, the ice was snow free. I stayed too long and to far from the mill house after the older kids went home before dark; and I almost died
I didn't though and thats why, 70 years later, this site is in homage to the Augusta Wisconsin Dells Mill and pond. It is a precious memory and it still exits; it is a real place! Now you can enjoy it as I have
